I am for the panniers. I am a tall guy 6'7". If I fit on the S1000RR I would have bought one. I went to the K1300s because it fits me better and the sport look. Another deciding factor are the hard bags. After having them now I will never be without them. I have been upwards of 150 MPH with no issues. I know that speed is above recommended MPH. My primary use is a work commute with occasional trip. I love the BMW panniers because they mold so well to the bike and when they are removed the mounting hardware is minimal. Figured out the other day that they will fit a large helmet expanded.

Want to know people's opinion?
Mount some Givi's, show up to the local sport bike hang out one night and see what kind of reaction you get.

Corbin tried years ago on some sportier bikes with the Beetlebags and they just didn't seem to work. These were even designed specifically to go with the look and paint scheme of the bikes.

Keep this beauty clean and light like she was meant to be.

Sorry for the late chiming in. :) I believe there's a place for hard panniers on the S1000RR, I'd say the K1300S style. Reason, many of the sportbike riders maturing and would like to be able to ride their sportbikes farther, especially with the S1000RR being a BMW (touring DNA).

Besides, why not have it as an option? A upper mounting points and lower mounting bars for existing bags. The only problem I see is that the rear sub frame is not made to be strong enough for the potential added weight, being the type of bike it is.

Though I'm personally looking at the big BMW Luggage Roll 2 since the tailbag will be too small.
