MV Agusta Beats BMW to the Triple 675

Postby Paratus on Thu Nov 04, 2010 1:31 am

I still have faith (hope) that BMW is hard at work in a dimly lit Bavarian Shop laboring to perfect their new S675RR. I've ridden the S1000RR on track and it is absolutely mesmerizing, though way too much for the street. Even the track I was at couldn't safely unleash all of its engine potential, I was stuck in the lower gears...

Long story short I would buy BMW's new middle weight in an instant if released. In the mean time, MV Agusta has joined Triumph with a comparable 675 cc triple. It's called the F3 and will be released shortly. Said to have 140 hp, and be the lightest and most compact in the middleweight class by far. Significantly, when released it will be the first middle weight to feature TC. Feels like they're beating BMW to the punch.

I think you'll be waiting forever Paratus, Hendrick Von Kuenheim said at the Eicma show in Cologne BMW will not make a S675RR 3 as the developement cost and production costs are virtually the same for an inline 4 (S1000RR) and bikers in Europe are favouring larger capacity sports bikes over middle weight sports bikes.

If you fancy a triple buy the Triumph or the new MV as BMW will not be doing one.

Yeah, Shiva, I agree with you. This is a very good looking bike. I just wish BMW would come through on this one. All I know is that if they did make a middleweight bike, my name wouldn't be ekS1000RR anymore :P And I'd be first in line at my local dealer!
