Wow!

thanks for the effort posting this trip log.

Two years ago I was invited to due a Baltic trip with a friend from Germany. He has two bikes (Honda ST1300 and a BMW K1200R sport). My economic condition prohibited me from doing it. All I needed to do is get myself there and pay for lodging, food and fuel (for both bikes).

In retrospect I should have found a way to pay for it. After reading your post and looking a the fantastic pictures, I missed a once in a lifetime motorcycle tour.

I'm drooling for a long motorcycle trip. It is spring in southern California right now, maybe I'll get out for a long weekend.

thanks again for the trip pictures and posts.

Thanks for the Kudos!

I'd be wary of a Baltic trip - Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia are lovely places, but not great countries on a motorbike. Finland is OK, and Sweden pretty dull - so Norway is defo where you need to get to for the trip. :)

Then again for a SoCal resident, anything in Europe would be pretty fantastic I think! :)

Then again, you have all that desert riding on your doorstep! :D

yea i spoke incorrectly.

i should not have stated a baltic trip.

The trip Jurgen did was a Norway trip.

However, a side trip to St. Petersburg and the museums there would be good.

Funny you mention the desert because we are planning a trip for next spring (2013). Thinking about exploring all the Canyon Parks and locations in Arizona, Nevada, Utah and New Mexico.

Just started planning the concept. My Jurgen has a business trip to SoCal in March (13) so we could do the trip after the conference.

I returned to this inspiring thread and have had a some good hours reading your very fine trip report! I am still seeing forward to my next long Norway tour.

But please don't judge Sweden after riding the highways of the west coast and the northern transport roads! These are the ones to choose for transportation, not the ones for interesting and beautiful riding. So, for your next trip a combination of southern Norway and the western parts of Sweden including Dalsland and Bohuslän could be worth thinking of. And there is the ferry Göteborg - Fredrikshavn (northern Denmark) to connect the circuit. And speaking of costs, Sweden is far below Norway and have campsites and fishing as well. We can help with plenty of route recommendations if you are interested!

I can also recommend Norway as a "must do" with a bike. Magnificent scenery and sweet tight n' twisty roads! :D
Feel free to contact me about route recommendations, I'd be glad to show you some too.
I live all the way out on the west coast, where the best roads are

Anyone going to Norway, should definitely go to "Lofoten", it's the small half-island pointing SW in the northern parts of the country.
Went there when I was 16, my first long trip on a bike, unforgetable :P

Westrern parts of Norway comes highly reccomended from me!

I live just a "shortcut" from the Lofoten Islands, anyone riding this part; give me a holler, I`ll ride with you! Perhaps a beer and a barbecue at my place afterwards?
