Thinking of selling [not]

Postby jerseyrider on Fri Sep 28, 2012 8:31 am

So, I'm considering selling or trading in my 2006 K1200s. It's completely stock except for the upper fairing being painted blue. I also have the factory panniers and it was just serviced with fresh tires with less than 100 miles on them and my local dealer described it as "immaculate". Mileage is just under 16,000.

I know what I can get for it if I trade but what would I expect to get if I sell outright? I've checked ebay, craigslist and other sources and I've seen varying pricing.

Anyone???????????

I checked yesterday and there's one '06 k1200s for sale on ebay. I don't really see anything on the forums to compare to. Just trying to guage what a fair private sale price would be.

Not sure what anyone can add here. Sounds like you've already researched the most appropriate sources for your area.

With all your research already done, you'll get what someone is happy to pay for it. I tend to sell on the low side as I hate dealing with the public (too many tyre kickers out there) . If the US second hand prices are like the Aussie resale prices, don’t expect too much!
Best wishes.

I would think that private sale you might get as much as $8500. If you were to trade it in, they would still give you a somewhat inflated value for it, maybe $8K? Those are just my best guesses, I am by no means a definitive expert.

Nope. Still have it. I think I'm going to keep it for a while. I was planning to sell it to buy an R1200rt but I don't need another payment right now.

Unless someone makes me a really sweet offer...........

Sorry but most replies are way off(too high)...the best actual 07-08 K12 numbers for June 2013 are; cash $3K, any dealer trade-in $4.5K(>$12K new bike), outright individual sell or ebay $5-6K if lucky, BMW rip-off(some) dealers $8.5-9.5K as-is pricing, exception Bob's and Kissel BMWs personally great. Atlanta and Pittsburgh BMW MCs Dealers along with our "BMW NJ NA Headquarters" both Cars and MCs are all but totally Worthless. NOTE:Honda rated only Worst-than-BMW Corp.support or total lack of, for both dealers and final-use customers. Please excuse negitive but sorrily true comments.

Best of Luck-Recommend holding your K Bike and Enjoy, until Trans/Clutch Expires around 15-20K miles by design(or lack of) than get $200-$500 for salvage bike,

While I appreciate your insightful advice, pgetty, I'll keep my future $200 - $500 paperweight and fix the trans if or when it goes. If this proves to be oscenely expensive, maybe I'll just part it out. You need anything?

Used MC dealers are still asking $7-7500 for a nice K12 with low mileage. So my initial post was a tad high. If dealers are asking that, then you should get at least that much, trade-in value. Private sale, who knows? You could get $5K - 8K depending on your area, the actual bike, upgrades etc. etc.
